Rearden Commerce Redesigns Sourcing Solution to Deliver Greater Cost Savings to Business Buyers

The automated, collaborative platform enables highly competitive sourcing events

Ketera Technologies, a Rearden Commerce company, today unveiled a redesign of its strategic sourcing solution, making it even easier for business buyers to create and manage reverse auction events and for suppliers to participate in them. By streamlining the sourcing process onto a single, automated collaborative platform, a highly competitive sourcing environment is enabled, thereby contributing to improved savings.

"The biggest challenge to creating a successful sourcing event is gaining broad supplier participation. Many sourcing tools are not designed with the supplier in mind, leading to a lack of supplier participation and support," said Mike Uomoto, Vice President of Product Management, Rearden Commerce. "We've redesigned our sourcing solution to meet the needs of both the buyer and supplier, with the goal of improving supplier response to yield more competitive sourcing events."

The new Ketera web interface offers an intuitive wizard for buyers to create sourcing events – including requests for information, proposals, or quotations (RFI, RFP, or RFQ) and reverse auctions – to better evaluate responses and select suppliers. The sourcing dashboard enables all stakeholders – buyers, evaluators and suppliers – to stay abreast of the event's status through real-time notifications, including email updates. Key benefits of the redesign include:

  • A transparent and objective supplier evaluation process, which includes the ability to add suppliers to the event directly from the Ketera Network, by browsing, searching, and viewing supplier profiles.
  • Simplified reverse auction supplier bidding process and item templates.
  • In-depth insight into supplier choices before making purchasing decisions.
  • Visual representation of what the supplier sees ensuring event options are clearly defined.

The user interface enhancements also make it quick and easy for suppliers to familiarize themselves with the solution to ensure they are successfully up and running in minutes, eliminating the need for additional training.

The new sourcing experience will be available on Friday, May 20, 2011 to connect more than 1.2 million suppliers to prospective buyers.
